The role

Here at the University of Salford we’re looking for a Senior Communications Manager to join a busy and fast-paced marketing and communications team. You’ll help us progress our plans to ensure that Salford is positioned as a key influencer and partner within regional and national agendas and establish our position as a University with industry at its heart.

You will have a high profile portfolio of projects to manage across both internal and external communications and will need to balance competing demands across a range of stakeholders. Resilience will be essential, as will the ability to meet deadlines across multiple work streams whilst maintaining an excellent eye for detail.

What you’ll be doing

- Working closely with internal stakeholders to proactively anticipate, manage and respond to the higher education agenda
- Partnering closely with the Vice Chancellor’s Office, Public Affairs Manager and Dean’s to ensure message alignment and delivery
- Acting as a critical friend and strategic advisor to senior management to ensure that Q and A’s, articles, speeches, videos and other communications are on brand, on message and executed to a high standard
- Developing new metrics to monitor and track effectiveness of communications
- Managing the internal communications and Press and PR functions

What you need to demonstrate

In order to be successful in the role of Senior Communications Manger you will:
- have significant external communications, internal communications and PR experience at a management level
- have strong brand positioning experience
- have experience of managing individuals/teams and stakeholder management
- have a solid understanding of digital communications and social media
